The Golden Pipeline runs between Mundaring and Kalgoorlie and was built to supply water to Kalgoorlie at a time when water was scarce in the Goldfields.
The National Trust of Australia’s (WA) brochure says:
“The Golden Pipeline was built at the dawn of the 20th century. It was the most ambitious water supply scheme ever built – bigger than anything the Romans did. It is still the longest freshwater pipeline in the world – and it is still working!”
There are 8 pump stations along the way and here are some photos of the road trip between Mundaring and Kalgoorlie.
