I read this in yesterday’s Sunday Times:
“What tantalises your tastebuds says a lot about your personality. A new study published in the journal Appetite found that a fondness for bitter foods, including gin and black coffee, can be a sign of serious malevolent streak, including narcissism, sadism and psychopathy. For the study, about 1000 people with an average age of 35 were quizzed on their taste preferences before their level of aggression, extraversion, emotional stability, agreeableness and conscientiousness were evaluated. The researchers concluded that “general bitter taste preferences emerged as a robust predictor for Machiavellianism, psychopathy, narcissism and everyday sadism”.”
I don’t drink coffee and I’m not 35. So I guess I’m exempt.
Although I seem to have lost track of what happened after I drank gin and tonic on the weekend.
Oh well, I suppose I will read about it in the paper…
